Marikar Films is an Indian film production and distribution in Kochi, Kerala involved with Malayalam films. Marikar Films is founded and owned by Shahul Hameed Marikar.

History

Marikar Films started its venture in 2007 with co-production and distribution of Big B, which was named as a big trend setter in Malayalam Film Industry starring Mammootty in main lead. Later in 2008, Marikar Films set up the distribution of three films: Roudram starring Mammootty in main lead, which was not up to the mark in box office, Annan Thambi which was a huge commercial hit in Malayalam film industry starring Mammootty in main lead, and the third one Vilapangalkkappuram (Malayalam: വിലാപങ്ങള്‍ക്കപ്പുറം) scripted and directed by T. V. Chandran which failed at the box office but won the Kerala State Film Award for Second Best Film in 2008 and also Priyanka, the lead, won the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in the film. In 2009, as like the previous hits of Mammootty came Daddy Cool via Marikar Films critically gets good response in Kerala. And in 2010, Thanthonni starring Prithviraj Sukumaran in the lead didn't perform well in box office.
