Mark Anscombe
Mark Anscombe is a New Zealand rugby union coach and the former director of coaching of Ulster from 2012 until June 2014.[1] He is a former head coach of the New Zealand national under-20 rugby union team who he coached to victory in the 2011 IRB Junior World Championship.[2] [3] He coached Auckland in the ITM Cup during a period that was largely unsuccessful and was accused of playing his son over better options. His first competitive game as Ulster coach was on 31 August 2012, an 18-10 win against Glasgow Warriors in the 2012–13 Pro 12 at Ravenhill.[4][5]
On 30 June 2014, Anscombe left his position as Ulster Rugby's head coach after two seasons in charge at Ravenhill.[6]
His son Gareth Anscombe currently plays for the Cardiff Blues in the Pro 12 and is a Wales international, which he qualifies to play for through his Welsh mother. [7] On March 30, 2016, Anscombe was named head coach of Rugby Canada's Senior Men's Program
