Marlon Abela (born 1975) is a Lebanese-born British restaurateur, businessman and columnist. He is the founder and chairman of the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC), a privately owned international hospitality company based in Mayfair, London.

Early life

Marlon Abela was born in Lebanon in 1975.[2][3] His father, Albert Abela, was the chairman of the Abela Group, a catering business, and a luxury hotelier.[3] His mother, Barbel, is German.[3]

Abela grew up in Grasse, France, and Monaco.[3]

Career

Abela started his family for his father's business at the age of seventeen.[3] By 2001, he served as its executive vice president.

Abela founded the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation (MARC) in 2001. The company is headquartered on Bruton Place in Mayfair. Abela serves as its chairman. Via the company, he is the owner of Umu and The Greenhouse, two restaurants in Mayfair, London.[1] Both restaurants received Michelin stars.[3] He is also the owner of Morton's Club on Berkeley Square in Mayfair.[3] In Manhattan, New York City, he owns another restaurant called A Voce.[2]

With François Payard, Abela co-founded François Peyard Bakeries, a chain of bakeries.[3] Meanwhile, in 2014, Abela became the majority shareholder of [4]

Abela is a columnist for Spear's Magazine, where he writes about wine.[3]

Personal life

Abela was married twice. He had two children with his first wife, and a third child with his second wife, Nadya.[3]
