Marrar clan

The Marrar are a Jat gotra, or clan, found in the Punjab province of Pakistan and the state of Punjab in India.[1]

History and origin

The Marrar claim descent from Shinh Chand, a Rajput prince. Historically the tribe was involved in jathera (ancestor) worship, with Shinh Chand's place of burial in Gharchu being treated as a shrine and a place of pilgrimage.[1]
