Martha Lake Elementary School is a public elementary school located in Lynnwood, Washington. It is one of many elementary schools in the Edmonds School District and serves students in kindergarten through sixth grade. The current principal is Tom Trexel, who began working after Jeanne Moore, the previous principal of 13 years, retired in 2011.[2]

History

Martha Lake Elementary School was established in 1953. A newer school facility was constructed and put to use in 1993.[3] The older building was demolished after a fire in 2001.[4]

Test Scores

As of 2011, Martha Lake Elementary School has produced results very near to the Washington state average on the state-required Measurements of Student Progress test.[5] The only category which serves as an exception is science, in which performance has been stellar.[6]

In May 2011, Martha Lake Elementary school students were recognized as finalists in a playground-improvement video contest sponsored by KaBOOM! and the Hazel Miller Foundation.[7]
