Martim Afonso de Melo (1360-1432) was a Portuguese nobleman, Lord of Arega and Barbacena. Alcaide of Évora,[1] and Guarda mór (alguacil) of John I of Portugal.[2]

Biography

Born in Évora, was the son of Vasco Martins de Melo and Maria Afonso de Brito.[3] Martim married twice, the first with Beatriz Pimentel.[4] The second marriage was to Briolanja de Sousa, granddaughter of Vasco Martins de Sousa and Inês Dias descendant of Ferdinand III of Castile.[5]
