Martin Page (British author)
Martin Page (1938 - March 2003) was a British writer and journalist. Was the son of a British industrialist and a journalist. His father had invented Cold Aluminium Extrusion.
He studied at Cambridge University in anthropology. At the age of 24, despite falling eyesight he became Fleet Street's youngest correspondent, covering seven wars from Algeria to Vietnam.
He wrote his first book Unpersoned in Moscow. His books published in 14 languages, include the Company Savage, which became a bestseller in Japan and Germany, and two novels, The Pilate Plot and The Man Who Stole the Mona Lisa. In 1988 he became legally blind.
He lived in Portugal from 1988 to 1987 where he wrote The First Global Village - How Portugal Changed The World (2002). It has sold over 20,000 copies in both Portuguese and English.
He died in 2003 of heart problems.
