Mary Garofalo is a Multi Award Winning anchor, and investigative correspondent.
Career
Anchor and Investigative Reporter Mary Garofalo, is a Canadian-born American television journalist.
Her first job in New York City was as the prime time News Anchor for WPIX television nightly news at ten. Garofalo was seen nationally in the U.S. covering stories for the syndicated news magazine show and News Corp Property A Current Affair (U.S. TV series)|A Current Affair. She worked as a reporter and anchor until the show ended in 1996. National and international stories covered included the Persian Gulf War, Bill Clinton/White House scandal, the Branch Davidian: Waco Siege, the Susan Smith murder case and the Sicilian Mafia in Italy.
In 1996 she created and headed an investigative unit for WNYW FOX 5 NEWS. As Senior Investigative Anchor and Reporter for Fox Broadcasting Company in New York City, at WNYW-Fox 5 News her tenacious reports earned her a reputation as an "electronic pitbull" and one of the toughest reporters in the city. Her hard hitting investigations landed con artists behind bars, uncovered Political corruption and exposed countless scams. She was on the front lines covering the attack on the World Trade Towers September 11. Mary has won 7 Emmys and she has been honored with dozens of nominations.
In September 2008 Garofalo created and launched a National Investigative News Magazine Show called 16X9 The Bigger Picture. She held the role as primary anchor, investigative reporter and Senior Consulting Producer for the program. Her investigation on "Electronic Pickpocketing" earned her a Gemini Award in August 2011.
Other credits include working as a consulting producer for TV movie Legacy Of Sin: The William Coit Story. Mary holds duo citizenship in both United States and Canada. She is a member of Association Of Investigative Reporters & Editors.
Recognition
Garofalo's investigative reports have won her seven Emmy awards, also the prestigious Canadian Gemini Award which honors the best in Canadian television. Mary has also received dozens of nominations. She's a two time Associated Press award winner and took home an Award for Excellence in Communication from the State University of New York State College of Optometry. She was also named 2005 Woman of the Year by the Police Society of New Jersey.
