Masaru Arai (新井 優 Arai Masaru, 1952-) is a Japanese astronomer.

He is a prolific discoverer of asteroids, working mainly in collaboration with Hiroshi Mori.

Arai discovered Comet Arai on 5 January 1991.[1]
