Mashiur Rahman (1920–1971) was a Bangladeshi lawyer and politician, a member of the East Bengal Legislative Assembly and cabinet minister in the East Pakistan government of Ataur Rahman Khan. He was instrumental in the founding of the Bangladesh Awami League and in the Bengali Language Movement, and supported Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.[1] He was arrested for his Language Movement activities, and again in 1958 when Martial Law was declared. He was elected to the Pakistan National Assembly in 1970 from Jessore-3 constituency. He was kidnapped by the Pakistani army on the night of 25 March 1971 and murdered a month later.[1]
