Master of Science in Global Finance

Master of Science in Global Finance (MSGF)[1] program is a one-year, part-time Finance Master's, jointly offered by Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and NYU Stern School of Business. It tries to take the latest insights from Wall Street and the emerging Asian market and puts them in a global context.

The Master of Science in Global Finance program (MSGF) made news<ref name="Financial Times Article, "Hong Kong and New York join forces"">Financial Times Article, "Hong Kong and New York join forces".</ref> during the formation of the partnership between NYU's Stern School of Business and Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2007.

The Partnership

HKUST School of Business and Management

Located in Hong Kong, a leading global financial center, HKUST Business school is ranked among the top in the World. Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Asian University Rankings rated HKUST as the top university in Asia in 2012.[2] The Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA Program (EMBA) has topped the Financial Times EMBA rankings for several years.[3] In 2013, it's MBA program has been ranked No.1 in Asia and No.8 in the world by the Financial Times.[4] Its Finance Department is ranked as top in Asia by ASU (Arizona State University).[5]

NYU Stern School of Business

Located in New York City, an epicenter of global business, New York University’s Stern School of Business is a premiere research/teaching institution with more than 200 faculty members. It has been ranked No.1 worldwide in Finance by many finance journals, including the Financial Times [6] and ASU.[5]

The MSGF program takes place over 1 year, which consists of 10 modules - 5 in Hong Kong, 4 in New York and 1 in Beijing. Topics covered include:

Students receive a Master of Science issued jointly by the two universities.

Students also have access to resources at both schools and are members of each school's alumni networks.

Students

The student profile of the recent 2014 class is made up of 40 students, whose average age is 33 and who have an average of 10 years of work experience. The students represent 15 nationalities, and work in a broad range of industries. They typically come from 5 sectors: Accounting / Audit Firms, Banks / Financial Institutions, Insurance and MNCs. There are also students who are business owners or working in family businesses.
