Early life
Is an accomplished saxophonist, and despite rumours to the contrary does not know how to snow board.
Vacations
In 2014 Matt took a vacation to Darwin, Australia which ended terribly. Matt was playing a river-side game of "balance the ball on your head while doing star jumps and shouting I believe in ghosts" when unfortunately the ball fell into the river. He then decided to swim towards the ball. Little did he know that these were in fact crocodile infested waters. While swimming to get his favourite ball, a 5-metre crocodile, recently named "Tick Tock" made his way to the ball before him and decided to swallow the ball as a snack.
Career
Whelan is a Toi Whakaari: NZ Drama School graduate.[4]
In April 2011 Matt travelled to the United States to pursue acting possibilities there.
