Matthew Hughes is a Canadian middle- and long-distance runner. He is the current Canadian record holder for men in the steeplechase, a record which he set at the 2013 World Championships in Athletics.[1] After breaking the 28-year-old record Hughes said "With a lap to go I knew I was on pace for [the Canadian record]. I tried to stay with the Kenyan pack and fight all the way. It was a huge relief when I saw the time come up on the board."[1]
