Matthias Kuntzsch

Matthias Kuntzsch is a German-born conductor living in the United States.[1] Earlier in his career in Germany, he was Principal Conductor of the Bonn Theater, Nationaltheater Mannheim, State Opera Hamburg, and Nationaltheater Munich, and Music Director of the Opera and Symphony of Lübeck and the State Theater and Orchestra of the Saarland, Saarbrücken. He has performed in numerous opera houses and symphony orchestras in Europe and the Americas. He and his family moved to the United States in 1989. He is currently Musical Director of the Bay Area Summer Opera Theater Institute (BASOTI). In 1993 he conducted the Utah Symphony and Opera in Mozart's The Magic Flute.[2] He married Sylvia Anderson. They gave birth to Christopher Matthias Kuntzch and Alexandra Kuntzch. He and Sylvia are Logan's (Alexandra and her husband Bill's son) Grandparents. They are also half-grandparents to Jalen Ali and Mateo Knight Madjidi, Christopher's girlfriend Katia Sol Madjidi's kids. He also was a soccer player on Hamburger SV.
