Matti Seppälä

Matti Kullervo Seppälä (born 1941) is a Finnish geomorphologist specialized in cold climate aeolian processes. Seppäla is arguably the foremost expert on palsas.[1] Seppälä obtained a Ph.D. at the University of Turku in 1971 and moved after to work at the University of Oulu until in 1978 he moved to the University of Helsinki.[2] He served at that university as professor from 1978 to 2009[3] and is currently a retired professor of physical geography at that university.[1][3]

Matti Seppälä has also been a research fellow at Uppsala University, Heidelberg University, Université de Montréal, University of Cambridge and Durham University.[3]
