Maurizio DeJorio (alternatively, Maurizio De Jorio[2] or Maurizio Di Iorio [sic?] [3]) (born 24 September 1967) is an Italian Italo disco and Eurobeat musician, active since the mid-1980s.
Background
Maurizio DeJorio was born on the 24th of September, 1967 in Trento, Italy. DeJorio became involved in mainstream musical production in the mid-1980s.
According to the artist's official biography on the SinclaireStyle website, his hobbies include "Wife's insemination, getting and loosing [sic] his weight, election day."[4]
Like most musicians in the Eurobeat genre, DeJorio has performed under a number of pseudonyms for various labels (including A-Beat-C, Delta, and SinclaireStyle). He's most well known for his two songs "Running in the 90s" and "Night of Fire". Both the former and the latter being featured in the anime Initial D - of which both appearances (among other songs featured in the anime) has garnered incredible popularity for DeJorio and the eurobeat genre in general. Some of the other songs used in Initial D are: "Speedy Speed Boy", "Stop Your Self Control" (as 'Marko Polo'), "Crazy for Your Love" (as 'Morris'), "Take Me to the Top", "Music for Hire" (as 'D. Essex'), "Golden Age", "Running in the 90s" (as 'Max Coveri'), and "No One Sleep in Tokyo" (as 'Edo Boys'). Currently, DeJorio performs under the aliases Niko and Dejo for Bratt Sinclaire's label SinclaireStyle.
One of DeJorio's aliases, Max Coveri, was originally used by Massimo Brancaccio, who later became the drag queen artist Billy More.[5]
