Maylandia melabranchion is a species of cichlid endemic to Lake Malawi where it is only known from the Mitande Rocks (near Thumbi West Island), Domwe Island, Mumbo Island, the Zimbabwe Rocks and Namalenje Island.[1] This species can reach a length of 10.5 centimetres (4.1 in) SL. It is also found in the aquarium trade.[2]
