Maynard Pirsig
Maynard Pirsig (January 9, 1902 – February 6, 1997) was an American legal scholar and academic.[1]
Educated at the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Law School,[2] he was Professor and Dean of Law at Minnesota from 1948 to 1955. He was later Professor of Law at the William Mitchell College of Law.[3] He had one of the longest careers of any legal academic.[4]
Personal life
Pirsig was born in Kossuth County, Iowa in 1902, was raised on his parents' farm and spoke only German until he began attending school.[5]
He is the father of Robert M. Pirsig.[6]
Minnesota Supreme Court
Pirsig served briefly as a Justice on the Minnesota Supreme Court in 1942. He was appointed by Governor Harold Stassen.[2]
