Production and sales

Meatco mainly produces frozen, vacuum-packed beef cuts for export. In addition, ready-to-eat meat and corned beef produced. All organic products come from free-range Namibian cattle.

Meatco’s biggest clients currently are South Africa, the United Kingdom and Norway, although it has penetrated various other European and non-European markets including Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Czechoslovakia, China and Dubai. The company has facilities in Windhoek, Okapuka, Johannesburg, London, Oshakati, Katima Mulilo, Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, Okahandja among others. Its abattoirs are HACCP[4] and ISO 9001 accredited and have South African export status.[5]

Sponsorship

Meatco has various[6] programs in place to build relationships with its producers and to promote the sustainability of cattle production in Namibia. Education and support programmes are in place to aid communal producers in commercial cattle production, especially relevant in the Northern Communal Areas[7] where it is estimated that if the commercial livestock potential of the area were unlocked, it would result in a significant economic boost for the region and to Namibia as a whole.
