Medopad Ltd is a British healthcare technology company headquartered in London, UK, with international offices in Salt Lake City, USA, and Dubai, UAE. It offers a suite of CE certified applications that integrate health data from existing hospital databases as well as wearables and securely sends it to healthcare professionals' mobile devices.[1][2]
KPMG recently named Medopad a $1B HealthTech company in the making.[3]
Medopad is registered with the FDA and is HIPAA compliant. Primary clients are large hospital groups and large pharmaceutical companies, and since 2012, Medopad has been a supplier to the NHS. Medopad has attracted significant media coverage, including from The Economist, The Financial Times, and BBC World News.[4][5][6][7] Medopad was valued around $100m in latest funding deal in 2016. [8]
Products
Medopad Enterprise Solution
Medopad allows hospitals to pool their patient data into a single platform so it can be served up to doctors on apps and mobile devices in real-time.[4][6] Healthcare professionals can securely access lab results, images, clinical notes, and primary care data via iPads and other mobile devices.[9] In November 2013, Medopad was the first regulatory approved enterprise mobile health solution and received CE approval from the UK Medicines & Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.[10]
Some of the clinical applications that Medopad includes are Patient Clinical Notes by voice recognition or typing, Scheduling, Lab Results, Image Viewer to view X-rays to CT scans, Support Documents to digitalise all paper documents or to take photos, Video Conferencing, Primary Records, Realtime Vitals, Demographics and Contact Information, Apple HealthKit integration, Realtime Data Stream, Traffic Light to sort and prioritise patients, Admission, and access to more third party applications integrated into Medopad through the Clinical App Store.[1][11] The Medopad software platform allows programmers and inventors to build clever apps around hospital big data, wearable devices and sensors that can combine data about physical health, activity and location.
Medopad Image Management App
The Medopad Image Management App allows clinicians to take pictures of a patient’s affected body part, annotate and securely share them with other clinicians, as well as archive them. Medical images are presented alongside patient demographics to provide the right context to the clinician.
Medopad Patient Portal App
The Medopad Patient Portal allows patients to connect with their clinical information at the hospital through a secure web interface, and make appointments, receive reminders as well as additional documents.
Medopad Patient Monitoring Solution
Patient monitoring solutions built on the Medopad platform provide healthcare providers with instant and near real-time access to patient data with significant benefits for patients:[12][13][14]
1. Reduce the negative impact of drugs on a patient’s wellbeing
2. Prevent compliance issues caused by missed medication
3. Deliver real-time patient data securely to global medical teams
4. Lower operating costs while improving overall care levels
5. Provide pharmaceutical organisations with real-world insight into the effectiveness of their drugs
6. Bridge the gap between insurance providers and policy holders
Medopad for Cancer
On 24 April 2015, Medopad announced the global rollout of a chemotherapy application for monitoring cancer patients, which has been designed specifically for the Apple Watch.[7][13][15][16] Medopad's roll-out of the Chemotherapy App was covered in a 6-minute interview on BBC World News.[7] The Economist reported in May 2015 that the Medopad Chemotherapy App, and other solutions that utilize 'small data' of patients at home, will result in big cost savings for healthcare providers.[5]
Some of the early adopters of the Medopad for Cancer app include Barts Health NHS Trust, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, Princess Royal University Hospital and King's College Hospital.[17]
Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, referenced the Medopad Chemotherapy App and work with London's King’s College Hospital in his Q3 2015 quarterly earnings call. Cook explains how remote patient monitoring is helping to improve medical care across the world.[7][18]
Medopad for Pharma
The Medopad Patient Monitoring Solution provides pharmaceutical companies with instant and near real-time access to patient data. It allows pharmaceutical companies to:
1. See how drugs are performing
2. Segment all patient data by demographic features
3. Identify and select applicants for field studies
