Medvode (pronounced [mɛˈdʋoːdɛ]; German: Zwischenwässern[2]) is a town and a municipality in Slovenia.[3] The Sava and Sora rivers join in Medvode, from which the town's name (which means 'between the waters') is derived.[4] Two large factories, Color[5] and Donit,[6] are based in Medvode. The Sava River at Medvode is also the location of the Medvode Hydroelectric Power Plant.[7] After the Second World War, a Yugoslav labor camp for political prisoners operated in Medvode.[8]
