Meenakshi Vilasam Government Vocational Higher Secondary School (MV Govt. VHSS Peroor) is a school located in Punthalathazham, India. It was situated near Peroor Karunallur Bhagavathi Temple in the name Kalluvilla Private School. In 1944, it was under YMVA Library. Kunjan Pillai was the manager and Headmaster.
The school then shifted to near the Peroor Meenakshi temple. Since then, it has been known as Meenakshi Vilasam School. In 1947, the school came under the Kerala government. After 19 years, it was raised to high school. In 1974 the school was divided into primary and high school. Now the school features vocational (since 1993) and non-vocational higher secondary (since 2000).
Departments
MVGVHSS serves students from first standard to higher secondary and vocational higher secondary level.
Facilities
The school covers two acres. High school has 41 class rooms within five buildings. Vocational higher secondary includes five classrooms within two buildings. The higher secondary school includes six class rooms within two buildings. Facilities include a playground and three computer labs with broadband connection.[1]
Extracurricular activities
Apart from the formal classes, the students take part in co-curricular activities like Scouts and Guides, NCC, magazine publishing and Vidyarangam art and literature club[2] programs.
In 2012 the Lower Primary school has registered itself with the Malayala Manorama project Nalla Padam. As part of this a small vegetable garden has been set up within the campus and a verandah garden. A tapioca field has been set up on the land of the Sree Meenakshi Devaswom charitable trust.
