Megumu Okada (岡田芽武 Okada Megumu, born 15 March 1971 in Tokyo) is a Japanese manga artist, best known as the creator of the series Shadow Skill and Saint Seiya Episode.G.
Works
In 1992, Megumu Okada begins the creation of his first major work, Shadow Skill,[1] a martial arts manga published by Kodansha[2] and serialized in several Japanese magazines, including Comic Gamma, Monthly Dragon Junior and Afternoon.
- In 1999, he creates the manga Nirai Kanai (ニライカナイ 遙かなる根の国 Nirai Kanai: Harukanaru Ne no Kuni), which was serialized in the magazine Afternoon and published by Kodansha. 6 volumes completed in 2003.[3]
- Shadow Skill (Shadō Sukiru), Published by Takeshobo, Magazine Comic Gamma 1992–1996, 4 volumes.
- Shadow Skil: Phantom Of Shade - Black Howling - Black Wing, Published by Fujimi Shobo (1996–1998) (Kodansha (2001–2014) Seinen Magazine, 11 volumes.
- In 2002, he begins writing and illustrating the spin-off manga Saint Seiya Episode.G, based on Masami Kurumada's Saint Seiya universe. Published by Akita Shoten and serialized in the monthly magazine Champion Red. This work is 20 volumes .[4]
- Gensou Sekai Eiyuretsuden Shinobi Zard (幻想世界英雄烈伝 忍ザード Gensō Sekai Eiyūretsuden Shinobi Zādo) (story, with art by Ranmaru Tenma):Serialized in Comic Gamma and published in 1 volumes by Takeshobo1994.[5]
- Gensou Sekai Eiyuretsuden Wiz Buster (幻想世界魔法烈伝 WIZバスター Gensō Sekai Eiyūretsuden Wiz Basutā) (story, with art by Ranmaru Tenma):Serialized in Monthly Shōnen Gangan and published in 1 volumes by Square Enix in 1996.[6]
- Oboro (朧 Oboro) (art and story):Serialized in Comic Dragon and published in 1 volumes by Kadokawa Shoten in 2001.[7]
- Fair Plays (幻想世界英雄烈伝フェアプレイズ Gensō Sekai Eiyūretsuden Fea Pureizu) (story, with art by Ranmaru Tenma):Serialized in Comic BonBon and published in 1 volumes by Kodansha between 2001 and 2002.[8]
- Hitotsuki! (ひとつキ! Hitotsuki!) (story, with art by Ranmaru Tenma):Published in Akita Shoten's Champion Red in 2009, 1 volumes.[9]
- Moe no Daichi (萌えの大地 Moe no Daichi):Published in Akita Shoten's Champion Red Ichigo 1 volumes.[10]
Merchandising
- Shadow Skill was also later adapted by Zero-G Room into a series of four original video animations between 1995 and 1996, and by Studio Deen into a 26 episode television series called Shadow Skill - Egi (影技~えいぎ Shadō Sukiru Eigi) in 1998.[11]
