Mehmet Haberal
Mehmet Haberal (born 29 October 1944 in Pazar, Rize Province) is a surgeon in Turkey.[1] He is the founder and exrector of Başkent University[2] and owner of the Kanal B television station.[3] In April 2009 he was arrested and charged for his involvement in Ergenekon.[2] In 2011, he was elected to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey as a Republican People's Party (CHP) candidate.
On 5 August 2013 Haberal was sentenced to twelve years and six months in the Ergenekon trials, but released due to time served.[4][5]
