The Melanomyinae are a subfamily of Calliphoridae, or blow flies. According to Keys to the Genera and Species of Blow Flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) of America North of Mexico by Terry Whitworth, the most distinguishing characteristic of this subfamily is its dull color; however, the biology is poorly known (Whitworth 723). This subfamily includes the genera Angioneura and Opsodexia.
