Melathrix praetextella is a species of snout moth, and the only species in the genus Melathrix. It was described by Christoph in 1877, originally under the genus Pempelia, but was subsequently moved to Melathrix by Ragonot in 1893. It is known from Turkmenistan (including Krasnowodsk, the type location).
