As a pair skater, she skated with Ludwig Wrede and won the bronze at the 1928 Olympics in St. Moritz. The pair also won three medals at the World Championships, two silvers and a bronze.[1]

After retiring from competitions Brunner taught skating in Switzerland and Great Britain. In December 1932 she married Paul Kreckow, a German figure skater from Berlin.
