Meteksan Savunma is a Turkish defense technology company, based in Ankara[1] specializing in microwave and millimeter wave systems, laser systems, communication data links and radios, underwater acoustic systems and simulators. It is part of Bilkent Holding, a large conglomerate funded by Bilkent University, which is Turkey's 15th largest industrial group, and privately held.[2][3]

Meteksan is one of the suppliers of the Turkish defense forces, and has been involved in projects such as missile defense systems, attack helicopters and underwater weapons systems.[4]

History

Meteksan Savunma was founded in 2006 by Turgut Senol, Founding General Manager and Vice Chairman of Board, and is considered one of Turkey's leading R&D centers.[5] In 2007, Meteksan formed a joint venture with TUBITAK, the Turkish State Research Organization and with Bilkent University, to develop a millimeter wave radar for the TAI/AgustaWestland T-129.[6] In 2008, it had sales of US$30 Million, including radars for T-129 and simulators for the Turkish Navy.[2]

In 2009, it was designated as a "Center of Excellence in Underwater Acoustics" by Turkey's Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, the first such center established as part of a Turkish government initiative to increase the output of its local defense industries.[1][7]
