Michael Batiste (born December 24, 1970) is a former American football defensive tackle and offensive guard in the National Football League (NFL) for the Washington Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at Tulane University.

Early years

Batiste attended West Brook Senior High School, before moving on to Tulane University.

Professional career

Dallas Cowboys

Batiste was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent after the 1994 NFL Draft, to play defensive tackle.[1] He was waived on August 23.[2]

In 1995, he was converted to an offensive guard and then switched back to play in 2 regular season games as a backup defensive lineman.[3] He also was a part of the Super Bowl XXX winning team.

The next year he was allocated to the Frankfurt Galaxy of the World League of American Football, to play on the offensive line. Although he could run block, he struggled in pass protection and was released before the start of the 1996 season.[4]

Washington Redskins

On February 26, 1997, he was signed as a free agent by the Washington Redskins. He was cut on August 24.[5]

After being out of football for a year working as a substitute teacher at Northwestern High School, he was signed as a free agent on February 11, 1998.[6][7] He played mainly on special teams and briefly as an offensive guard against the Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. He was released on October 20.[8]

Barcelona Dragons (NFLE)

In 1999, he played for the Barcelona Dragons of NFL Europe.
