Michael Joe Cosgrave

Michael Joe Cosgrave (born 9 March 1938) is a former Irish Fine Gael politician. He was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin North–East constituency, and also served as a local councillor.[1]

Cosgrave was educated at St. Joseph's CBS, Fairview, at the School of Management Studies in Rathmines, and at University College Dublin.

He was first elected to Dáil Éireann as a Fine Gael Teachta Dála (TD) for the Dublin Clontarf constituency at the 1977 general election and retained his seat until losing it at the 1992 general election due to the national swing to the Labour Party. He re-gained his seat at the 1997 general election but lost it again at the 2002 general election.[2]

In 1999 he was elected as a member of Fingal County Council for the Dublin suburb of Howth. He retained his council seat at the 2004 local elections and retired in 2009.
