Michael Davis (trombonist)
Michael Davis (born August 13, 1961 in San Francisco, California) is a jazz trombonist from San Jose, California.
He studied at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
Davis has worked with famous singers and bands, for example The Rolling Stones,[1] Bob Dylan and Michael Jackson.. He is also a music entrepreneur.[2]
He spends most of his time acting as a clinician for colleges and high schools all over the USA. Noted as a talented educator, he started hip-bone music to write publications for young jazz musicians. He has written books regarding warm-ups, trombone technique, jazz theory, and many other topics. He has also co-written several books on trumpet and jazz pedagogy.
In 2014, Michael Davis visited Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania and participated in their annual jazz festival. He gave several clinics, participated in adjudicating several high school bands, and played with the Slippery Rock University Jazz Ensemble.
