Michael Detlefsen

Michael Detlefsen[1] is a philosopher at the University of Notre Dame. His areas of concentration are logic, mathematics, history and philosophy of mathematics, metaphysics, and epistemology.

Academic positions

Detlefsen studied at Wheaton College and Johns Hopkins University. He began teaching at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and later moved to Notre Dame as an associate professor of philosophy.

Publications

He currently serves on the editorial boards of Notre Dame Journal of Formal Logic (of which he is chief editor), Philosophia Mathematica and the Journal of Universal Computer Science. He is the editor of two books on logic, Proof, Logic and Formalization and Proof and Mathematical Knowledge.
