Michael H. Herson

Michael H. Herson is an American lobbyist and consultant for the United States defense industry, and serves as the President and Chief Executive Officer of American Defense International(ADI).[1][2][3] He was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Outstanding Public Service in 1993.

While a student at Georgetown University, Michael Herson was selected to be a White House Intern where he served in the Executive Office of President Ronald Reagan and on the speech writing staff of Vice President George Bush. After returning to Washington in 1990, Herson was appointed as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Force Management and Personnel, the Pentagon’s senior manpower official responsible for all personnel policy and oversight of the recruiting, training, compensation, support, and management of the Department’s military and civilian personnel.[4]

Herson also served as a special assistant to Dick Cheney when he was Defense Secretary.[5]

After leaving the Department of Defense in early 1993, Michael Herson joined the Alexis de Tocqueville Institution.[6]

On June 7, 1994, Michael Herson won the Republican primary election becoming his party’s nominee for the U.S. Congress in New Jersey's 6th congressional district and received national recognition as one of the youngest candidates in the country.[7]

He is married to Vicki Siegel Herson.[5]

American Defense International, Inc.

Michael Herson serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of American Defense International, Inc. (ADI). The firm provides services including government relations, program development and execution, business development, and strategic consulting.[8]

Other leadership of ADI includes Van Hipp, Jr, who serves as Chairman, and George Phillips, who serves as Chief Operating Officer.

Due to his experience with national security and defense issues, Michael Herson has been named to posts on the boards of many defense related organizations, including the Consensus for American Security, an advisory board and program of the American Security Project.[9]

He has also been quoted in various news sources due to his expertise, including Roll Call (newspaper),[2][3] The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Boston Globe, Businessweek, Investor’s Business Daily, The Huffington Post, and The Hill, and has been interviewed on National Public Radio. The Hill (newspaper) named him as one of the top lobbyists in Washington and one of the top “Hired Guns” in the nation’s capital.[4]
