Michael Lord is a songwriter, composer, producer and Indie recording artist. His 2004 release SWAY found an audience when his song Smile was chosen by the Apple iTunes Music Store as their Single of The Week. Other songs from SWAY including Bleed and Forgiven soon found their way into hit television shows such as ALIAS and What About Brian. He followed SWAY with a mini EP titled THE STRING SESSIONS reinterpreting the songs from SWAY acoustically with a string quartet. Michael wrote all string arrangements which were then performed by The Section Quartet.
In 2005 Michael worked with producer Desmond Child to arrange and record two songs for American Idol's Season 4 Showstoppers Album resulting in an RIAA Certified Gold Record.
Following the American Idol success he has turned his attention to music production producing tracks for Honey County, Quincy Coleman, Graham Colton, Courtney Jaye, Dilana, Paulina Gretzky and Chelsea Williams as well as writing songs included in NBC's hit comedy My Name Is Earl.
Currently Michael is composing, producing and arranging music for television, film and media.
Biography
Michael Lord was born in Los Angeles, California. He attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA as a recipient of the Chick Corea Jazz Masters Scholarship Award. Upon returning to Los Angeles, Michael signed his first recording deal with Atlantic Records as a member of the band Tattoo Rodeo. The band was signed by industry veterans Jason Flom and Nick Ferrara. In support of the album, the band toured with Bad Company, Damn Yankees and Ted Nugent. Tattoo Rodeo recorded a second album for BMG titled SKIN. The band then went their separate ways. Michael continued on to become a member of the band Royal Slone. The band signed a production deal with Rick Rubin and American Recordings. After too many delays Royal Slone accepted a deal from legendary A&R Veteran, Tom Zutant and made an album for Island/Def Jam with producer Eric Valentine. Royal Slone changed their name to California. After Tom Zutant left Island/Def Jam the band was dropped but the album eventually came out on Rob Kahane's Trauma Records. To support the album California toured with Stevie Nicks. Currently Michael composes and produces music for television and film.
