Mick Loftus
Michael "Mick" Loftus served as the 28th president of the Gaelic Athletic Association (1985–1988).[1] He was born in Crossmolina, County Mayo and became the first Mayo man to hold that office.
Also a prominent referee, Loftus refereed the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship finals of 1965 and [2]
As a player, he won both Mayo Senior and Junior Championship medals with Deel Rovers in 1947 and 1955 respectively, while he also represented his county at all levels. He captained Mayo to the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship in 1957 and also played in the 1947 minor final defeat to Tyrone and was a member of the last county senior squad to win the Sam Maguire Cup in 1951.
