Middenwaard is a shopping centre located in Heerhugowaard, Netherlands owned by real estate investment company Corio.
History
Middenwaard was built in four phases. Construction began in 1974, while the last phase was completed in 1990. Because of this phased development, the shopping centre has a unique external and internal appearance. Meanwhile Middenwaard has been renovated and has an unambiguous appearance nowadays.
The phases are clearly recognizable in the architecture, but also in the functions of the centre. It is the perfect place for everyday shopping as well as shopping for pleasure. The shopping centre has recently been renovated and currently being expanded. After the expansion the centre will have a total retail floor area of 45.000 m².
