The organization formerly known as Midwest Proton Radiotherapy Institute (MPRI) now the Indiana University Health Proton Therapy Center.[1] The Center offers proton therapy in Bloomington, Indiana, United States, affiliated with the Melvin and Bren Simon Cancer Center of Indiana University. MPRI began treating patients in 2004, the third active proton therapy center in the United States.[2] MPRI has treated over 1000 patients.[3] MPRI's pediatric program is affiliated with Riley Hospital for Children, which is ranked among the top 30 children's hospitals in the nation.[4] MPRI is the only proton therapy center in the U.S. to use a uniform-scanning beam for dose delivery,[5] which decreases undesirable neutron dose to patients.[6] The IU Health Proton Therapy closed its operation December 5, 2014.
