Mika Johnson (born July 10, 1975) is an American filmmaker, photographer, writer, and musician.

Biography

Johnson was born in San Diego, California and his family later relocated to Amherst, Ohio. He graduated with a B.A., in 2000, from Oberlin College.

Johnson is the director of documentary and fiction films, many of which blur the distinction between the two practices. The themes of spiritual awakening and the exploration of dreams are essential concepts in his work. He cites the films of Jim Jarmusch, Andrei Tarkovsky, David Lynch, and Luis Buñuel as cinematic inspirations.

In 2011, Johnson began directing "The Amerikans": a web series featuring three- to five-minute relationship-based documentaries created in close cooperation with their subjects.

Johnson is also a member of MomenTech: a multiplatform experimental production studio based in New York City.
