Mirakl is a French software developer that sells a SaaS-based online marketplace solution called Mirakl Marketplace Platform. Mirakl is a product used by retailers, B2B or media companies to create, launch and operate their own online marketplace.
Mirakl's customers are primarily retailers, for example Galeries Lafayette,[1] Rueducommerce,[2] Darty,[3] Mistergooddeal,[4] Nature et Découvertes,[5] Medicanimal,[6] Godsavethekids,[7] Menlook,[8] Game[9] etc...
History
Philippe Corrot and Adrien Nussenbaum created Mirakl in 2011. In 2005, they co-founded Splitgames, an e-commerce marketplace where members could sell and exchange video games. In November 2008, Fnac acquires Splitgames. Philippe Corrot and Adrien Nussenbaum created and ran the marketplace operations of Fnac for three years before launching Mirakl.
- January 2012: Commercial Launch of Mirakl Marketplace Platform, first client implementations.
- August 2012: Mirakl publishes its book "Marketplace: the future of e-commerce".
- September 2012: Mirakl received "Best Solution" award in the "New services" category of E-commerce Awards.[10]
- November 2012: Mirakl raises €2.5 millions[11] from tech investors such as Xavier Niel, Dassault family, Elaia Partners...
- April 2013: Mirakl signs its 10th client
- May 2013: Mirakl opens offices in London
- September 2013: Mirakl wins IBM Smartcamp Award[12]
- December 2013: Mirakl launches offices in New York
- May 2014: Mirakl is a finalist of the IBM Business Partner Beacon Awards[13] and signs its first client in Asia
- In 2014, Mirakl takes part in the Ubi i/o program of Ubifrance, to accelerate its development in the US.
- January 2015: Mirakl reaches 40 clients in 10 different countries.
- February 2015: Mirakl publish its first barometer about Marketplaces with Sorgem and IBM[14]
- July 2015: Mirakl raises a $20 million Series B round of funding led by 83 North, the firm formerly known as Greylock IL. Felix Capital’s Frederic Court and Dave Strohm, a partner at Greylock and a founding investor and advisor to 83North. Historic investors Laurent Dassault and Elaia partners also participated.
- December 2015: Mirakl publishes a B2B white paper, "Marketplaces are the future of B2B e-commerce"
The book Marketplace: the future of e-commerce
In 2012, Mirakl's founders Philippe Corrot and Adrien Nussenbaum published a book dedicated to the marketplace model. It deciphers the history of marketplaces, how it works, the benefits for a retailer and its challenges.
In 2015, the founders publish a B2B version of the white paper, highlighting the major opportunity marketplaces represent for B2B players.
