Mišel Matičević
Mišel Matičević (born 1970 in Berlin) is a German actor of Croatian descent.
Biography
Mišel Matičević is a graduate of the Konrad Wolf Academy of Film and Television in Potsdam. Immediately upon concluding his studies he gained his first experiences in the theater at the Berliner Ensemble as well as the Deutsches Theater in Berlin. At the same time, he was cast in his first large film and television productions. Very early on, his extraordinarily powerful and sensitive performances attracted the interest of directors such as Dominik Graf, Rainer Kaufman und Stephan Wagner with whom he has continued an ongoing collaboration.
Since the beginning of his career, the actor has captivated audiences and the press with his distinctive physical presence and acting versatility. Leading roles in films such as ‘Blackout’, ‘Das Gelübde’ (The Vow), ‘Die Brücke am Ibar’ (The Bridge on the Ibar), ‘Hotte im Paradies’ (Hotte in Paradise), ‘Im Angesicht des Verbrechens’ (In Face of the Crime), ‘Im Schatten’ (In the Shadows), ‘Lost Killers’, ‘Todesautomatik’ (The Automatic Death), and ‘Und Morgen leben wir wieder’ (And Tomorrow We Live Again), ‘testify to the exceptional acting talent for which he has garnered many awards, including the Adolf Grimme Prize and the German Television Prize. He caught the attention of an international audience in the role of ‘Arpad Zzel’ in Ridley Scott’s Emmy nominated series ‘The Company’.
Mišel Matičević intense and corporeal interpretations of the most contradictory emotions are remarkable studies of human character. They testify to a unique, highly developed corporeality in his acting with which the actor convincingly brings his characters to life. In so doing, he always maintains an intuitive feeling for the essence of his roles. In particular, his sensitive and masculine performing, moving wholly and almost transparently between the positive and the negative of human behavior, define the special talent of the actor. Hence, to this day, he continues to seek collaboration with directors who transcend conventional boundaries and thus leave a mark on the film and television of today.
