The Miss South Dakota USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of South Dakota in the Miss USA pageant. This state pageant is currently directed by Future Productions.
South Dakota is one of the least successful states, having only placed twice and never having advanced past the Semi-finals. One notable Miss South Dakota USA was Vanessa Shortbull (2000), one of the first Native Americans to compete at Miss USA. Shortbull was also Miss South Dakota 2002.
