A road from US 49 to Whitfield was created around 1953. About half of it was paved.[2][3] Three years later, a new road was constructed from US 49 to MS 20,[4][5] which later became MS 469 in 1957.[5][6] The next year, the route was extended to MS 468 via the road created in 1953.[7][7] All of MS 469 was paved by 1960.[7][8]
