Mizo Phyll (born Livhuwani Takalani Aubrey Ratshiungo, 18 October 1986 in Shayandima, Venda, Limpopo, South Africa) is a South African hip-hop artist. He is noted as one of the most significant rappers in the Tshivenḓa language.[1][2]

Career

Mizo Phyll began his career in 2007 with Madhouse Entertainment, recording his hit album Mapubungwe featuring the hit song "Vimba" which, as of April 2015, still receives popular airplay. Mapubungwe also featured Mizo Phyll's hit "Tshikandeledzi" which was nominated for best Tshivenda hip-hop single at the SATMA awards 2009.[3]

In 2012, Mizo Phyll won a TSHIMA Award (presented by SABC) for best Tshivenḓa Hip Hop.[4] and in 2015, Mizo won Best Hip Hop award at FAME Awards.[5]
