Mobile Fun is an e-commerce retailer headquartered in Birmingham, in the United Kingdom. The company was founded in 2000[3] as a retailer of mobile accessories and mobile downloads. The company is now one of the UK's largest online retailers of Mobile phone accessories.[4][n. 1]

Having opened its first international store in Hamburg, Germany in 2008,[2] Mobile Fun continued its international growth,[2][5] shipping to 50 countries worldwide and opening offices in Germany, France, Spain and the US. Non-UK sales now make up almost 50% of overall revenue.[6]

History

Anthony Cook (21 years old at the time) and Dennis Cook initially founded Mobile Fun in 2000 in Wimbledon[5] and subsequently relocated it to Birmingham.[3] Mohammed Hussain, who has been with Mobile Fun since 2003, became its Managing Director in 2009. He won the award from the Institute of Directors as Young Director of the Year for the West Midlands region in 2011.[7]

In 2008, the company began a programme of international expansion, establishing an office in Hamburg, Germany in 2008, followed by an office in Paris, France in 2010.[8] Mobile Fun websites were launched for Spain and the Netherlands the following year.[9] Stores were then launched in Italy[10] and the USA[11] in 2012. In 2014, Mobile Fun announced the acquisition[12] of Playfect, a mobile and gaming accessories manufacturer and also launched Accessory Lab, a new mobile accessories distribution business.[13]

Mobile Fun is now one of the UK's leading Internet retailers of mobile phone accessories.[7] Financial year reports for the period ending 31 March 2015 indicate that Mobile Fun had revenue of over £13.4 million and a workforce of 113 employees.[14]
