Mohammad Abubakar Durrani (Pashto: محمد ابوبکر درانی; born 28 December 1995 in Quetta Balochistan Pakistan) is a Pakistani canoeist.

Family Background

Mohammad Abubakar Durrani belongs to the ethnic Pashtun Sadozai tribe, section of the Popalzai sub clan of Durrani Abdali Pashtun tribe, Mohammad Umar Durrani is his younger brother. He is son of eminent Pakistani caving legend and environmental scientists / Conservationist Hayatullah Khan Durrani and grand son of the sadozai Pashtunes tribal chief and politician Shahzada Rehmatullah Khan Saddozai.

Early life

Mohammad Abubakar Durrani first stepped into a kayak at an early age. Right from the start he loved the feeling of freedom and the challenge of getting the boat to go in a straight line. It was one of the first times he could do a sport as well or better than others. He got involved in the sport since early childhood and used to go with his father to Hanna Lake to his father's water sports academy (Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy)(HDWSA) the first and only water sports Academy in Balochistan located in Hanna Lake at the suburbs of Quetta. the great source of inspiration for him is his father who is C.E of HDWSA and trained Paddlers and rowers with devotion and representing Pakistan on International level in Caving Adventures Sports since long and that’s how Abubakar Durrani got into the Kayak Paddling sport. He won his first Gold medal in Competition held in 2005 at HDWSA Hanna Lake Quetta in Category K,1 (U 10). His major Achievement was winning the under 16 and 18 Gold Medals in Pakistan's National Canoeing Championship held in 2007 at Rawal Lake Islamabad.He is the youngest Kayak paddler athlete to have won the "Player of the Year Award" and is the only Kayaking player to have won this outstanding award in Pakistan eight consecutive times since 2007.[1][2][3][4] [5][6] [7] Mohammad Abubakar Durrani Participated in the 14th and 15th Asian Canoe Sprint Championships held in Tehran Iran 2011 and in the historical city of Samarqand Uzbekistan 2013.
