Mohammad Chamanara

Major General Mohammad H. Chamanara (1916–2009) was born in Kermanshah, Iran. Chamanara was commissioned as an officer in the Imperial Iranian Army in 1940 with the rank of 2nd lieutenant. Chamanara rose up the ranks and became major general (two star) in the Imperial Iranian Army. He retired from Imperial Iranian Army in 1970. From 1977 until 1979 he was the head of Tehran's fire department.

In 1989 Chamanara moved to the US and lived in Virginia for the rest his life.

Chamanara wrote two books on some of his experiences during his days as a major general: Fire in the Zaagros Mountains and Javaan-mard Operation.
