Mohammad Noje

Mohammad Noje (March 25, 1945 – August 16, 1979) was a pilot in Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force in Hamedan Air Base. He and his copilot both killed in action in an operation against Kurdish insurgent near Paveh in Kermanshah province at west of Iran. After his operation Iran IRIAF changed Hamedan Air Base name to Noje Airbase.

Life and education

Mohammad born in 1945 in Tehran. After completion of his highschool he entered to Air-force University to study weapon control. Later he changed his major to become pilot in Iranian Air force. He started his training in Iran and completed his flight training in United States in 1972.

He started his career in Iranian air force as F-4 pilot. He and his copilot Bashir Mousavi were performing reconnaissance flight and close support of ground forces of Iranian Army in a battle against Kurdish insurgents while they got shot. Neither of Mohammad Nojeh nor Bashir Mousavi got chance to eject.

Noje is considered the first pilot who killed in action after Iranian revolution in 1979.[1]
