T.V. Mohammed Irshad (born 26 December 1994) is an Indian professional footballer who plays as a striker for DSK Shivajians in the I-League.

Career

Early career

Born in Tirur, Kerala,[1] Irshad was a part of the Viva Kerala under-19 side until it shut down.[2] After Viva Kerala shut down, Irshad joined his town's local sports academy. During a tour of Maharashtra, Irshad was signed by DSK Shivajians.[2] He went on to score over 30 goals for the club in the local district league. Irshad then went on to score six goals in five games during the 2015 National Games of India for Maharashtra and thus finished as the football tournament's top scorer.[2]

DSK Shivajians

Irshad made his professional debut for DSK Shivajians on 26 February 2016 in the I-League against Shillong Lajong. He came on as a 87th minute substitute for Aser Pierrick Dipanda as DSK Shivajians drew the match 1–1.[3]

Style of play

According to the Maharashtra head coach, Godfrey Pereira, Irshad is "one for the future. He is one of the more promising strikers in Indian football now. He has got good speed, great stamina and good height. And he is particularly good with headers. I was very impressed when I saw him play for DSK and picked him straightaway for Maharashtra."[2]
