Molvi Imran Raza Ansari (Urdu: مولوی عمران رضا انصاری, born 7 March 1972) is son of veteran statesman Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, himself a politician and Shia religious cleric succeeding his father from Kashmir. He won elections from the Pattan constituency and was declared Minister of Information Technology,Technical Education and Youth Services and Sports. [1][2] Besides he is one of the authoriser of ashura procession in Srinagar.

Early Life and Education

Imran Raza is born to Kashmir's most influential Shia religious cleric Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari on 7 March 1972. He is elder to his brother Irfan Ansari and younger to his sister. Imran Raza had his matriculation from Tyndale Biscoe School in Srinagar and did his graduation from Jamia Millia Islamia with arts his subject. Later he had his masters from same institution, where he qualified Master's degree in Political science. Having lineage and legacy of Ansari he was aware about his forthcoming responsibilities. After qualifying masters he studied Islamic doctrine and went to Howzeh Zainabiya in Syria. Then had his dimploma in Arabic Language in the Department of Linguistics at the University of Damascus. At Al-Mustafa International University he studied Islamic Philosophy and Theology.[3]

Political career

After death of his father Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari in 2014, Imran Raza was fielded by same political party at same constituency Pattan where his father served before. In Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly election, 2014 Imran Raza Ansari won from his constituency with more than 9334 votes.[4] After new government was formed by PDP Imran Raza was declared minister of Information Technology, Technical Education, Youth Service and Sports.[5][6]

Religious Cleric

Molvi Imran Raza succeeded his father Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari as Shia religious cleric after his death in 2014. Imran Ansari addresses the annual Muharram congregations at Imam Bara Qadeem in Zadibal with other religious ceremonies.[7] Besides he authorises and reviews muharram procession along with its arrangements.[8]
