Montazur Rahman Akbar (Bengali: মনতাজুর রহমান আকবর, born 31 July 1957, Joypurhat, Bangladesh) is a Bangladeshi film director, screenwriter, producer, Social activities and entrepreneur. He was most successful action based commercial film director in Dhallywood most of the film was successful business at box office.[2]

He was also a freedom fighter in the Bangladesh Liberation War fighting against the Pakistan Army in 1971 in Sector Number 7 under the command of Sector Commander Quazi Nuruzzaman. After the war, he was founded local theater group Akkelpur Adorsho Club and directed a number of plays. He subsequently moved to Dhaka to pursue a film career.

He started his career as an assistant director under prominent film directors Matin Rahman, Azizur Rahman, Zillur Rahman, Saiful Azam Kashem, and Narayan Ghosh Mita. He was working as an assistant of successful film like Chhutir Ghonta, Janata Express and many more. He was working as an assistant from 1979 to 1990.[3]

His first film as director was Takar Pahar, starring Dipjol, but its release was delayed. His first film to be released was Nayjudhdhu in 1991 starring Ilias Kanchan. Akbar written a single song in his film Big Boss 2003. His sibling Istofa Rahman is a cinematographer in Dhallywood. He was turned producer with film Kukhato Khuni in 2000 was blockbuster, film was produce under the banner Nayan-Apon Production and partnership with Swedish producer. After split he was produce as a single in 2008 with action hero Manna starring Babar Junno Judhdhu under the Banner Starplus.[4] Montazur Rahman Akbar has collaborated with action hero Manna in 22 films. His films have introduced Dipjol, Popy, Keya, Riya Sen, Shakiba, Songita, Antara Biswas, and Pushpi to Dhallywood.[5][6]

He was also founded a development NGO Prochesta in Joypurhat, Bangladesh, working sanitation, higene, village low income people develop in rural area in Joypurhat district across Rajshahi division.[7]

He has directed television commercials for companies like Greenland Training Center, Decent Holding, and Hiton TV and television drama and drama serial like Pakhal, Golden Swarna, Pakhi Ebong Manushera etc. He guest judged television channel program like Super Hero Super Heroin, Voice Of The Nation, Mirakkel Akkel Challenger.[8]

He was also starting a business in her Hometown Joypurhat as an Apu Electronics Bazar, Mariam Traders, Furniture Village.

Biography

Montazur Rahman Akbar Schooling from Akkelpur FU Pilot High School, with her two sibling, he was attendant here Secondary School Certificate (S.S.C.) Exam, then he moved to college Akkelpur F.U, Pilot High School, he was attendant Higher Secondary Certificate exam, at this college he was joining theater activities and direction number of play whole year with her friends. Then he moved to Joypurhat Degree college get BA Certificate. Her father Kabir Uddin Mondol was a local fish wholesale agent and onetime Union Council Parishad (or council) Member that's period. In this College period he was look her father business also. Montazur Rahman Akbar Married Mariam Rahman they have three son.

Montazur Rahman Akbar founded a NGO, PROCHESTA, in her hometown Joypurhat district in 2000.[7] working for development in whole district across north Bengal. PROCHESTA working in urban development project with local donor, supporter and partner organization like Democracy Watch, NGO Forum, Aristocat Society. Akbar Executive Director of this organization.[7][9]

Career

Montazur Rahman Akbar directing theater in college period. This time he was activities of Bangladesh Students Union in akkelpur thana branch. He direction number of play in Joypurhat, Bogra region. After return from liberation war in 1971 against Pakistan. Montazur Rahman Akbar start her directorial work as a stage drama director. He was active in theatre direction from 1973 to 1978. He was founder & member of many Stage group. In this time he was work & member of Akkelpur Adarsho Club, Akkelpur MR College Club, Chantara Club. He was also work as an organizer of theater play, then he moved to dhaka for her dream land dhallywood. Montazur Rahman Akbar come to dhaka for her dream make film. He starting as an Assistant director. He become a Director film Takar Pahar, her first released film as a director Nayjuddho in 1991. He was produce film in 2000. He was also adviser director of Helal Khan's 1999 film Asha Amar Asha.[10] After longtime direction Akbar turned producer in 2000 with help from some people. Montazur Rahman Akbar open production company Nayan-Apon Production,[11]Star Plus[12] for producing film. He was produced first film Kukkhato Khuni with Multi starrer cast like Manna, Moushumi, Razzak, Dipjol, Razib and other. Akbar Directed & First Produced this film with and co producer and lots of struggle and mortgage. Kukkhato Khuni was become a blockbuster at box office. Kukkhato Khuni was released as 35mm negative format. Film print was hijacked in gabtoli, Mirpur road, then re print and delivered to booked hall, then he produce Bhoyanok Songghorso, Top Somrat, Action Lady under the banner Nayan-Apon Production with co-produce. Nayan-Apon production was first film Production Company by her film career due financial crises he was left film producing in 2003 with last released Bhayanok Songghorso. Akbar back to own producing in 2008 with Manna in Babar Jonno Joddho under her own banner Star Plus, film was commercial success but critical response for actor Manna death.[13] After huge straggle he was produce Top Hero with Shakib Khan in 2010, film was successful business in box office but due financial crisis & fallen dhallywood industries he was left producing.[14][15]

After actor Manna death Dhallywood industry fallen day by day, theater are closed whole the country, akbar moved the television channel he was directed first TV drama Pakhal, but channel doesn't accept quickly on aired after two year later. He was directed drama Golden Swarna, Bracelate drama serial Kaji Saheber Tin Putro, some of them couldn't be accept at Television channel authority, he was back to Film direction and Setup other business.

Montazur Rahman Akbar looking for establish a business beside film career. He was business experience from her father business dealing. He was look her father business at college life. He want business setup when fallen film industry. He was many of time take a step for setup a company but some of time he was unsuccessful. Finally he was took distributorship of electronics brand Walton in joypurhat her hometown. Showroom running successfully 14 years, then he want to setup her own product and brand.
